how to enjoy starbucks

if you missed out on the starbucks frappuccino happy hour campaign, then that sucks for you.  $2 frappuccinos = awesome (don’t even pretend that you’re not gutted you missed out).

but this morning while i wait for yoga class to start, i needed to use the internet and so i popped into starbucks which (not surprisingly) was about 25 metres away from me.   i enquired into how many ’shots’ of coffee they put in their americanos.  apparently it depends on the size, so i asked for a ’short’ (the smallest) …

I just got home and started cooking up bacon.  This is how come bacon is all right:

First of all, bacon is fucking awesome.  It tastes good, it smells good, you can pretty much put it on anything and make anything better.  Find something else.  Seriously, find something else.  Get up, go look in your fridge or your freezer, go look in your cabinets both high and low.  You came back with nothing, didn’t you?

i’ve been living here (in vancouver) for just over 3 months now and i think that this is almost just long enough to contemplate with some legitimacy how to be recognised as ‘a vancouverite’.

people from vancouver are not like people from wellington or auckland.  and so if you are considering coming to vancouver and don’t like to be identified as a tourist then here are some of my personal observations on how to achieve ‘vancouverite’ status quickly:

one of the joyful things about vancouver is that free wireless internet is everywhere. which makes hanging out in cafes all day that much more wonderful.

today i had the pleasure of hanging out in turks coffee lounge while the rain poured and the sky stayed gray all day. the most frustrating thing about using my laptop in cafes is that i can rarely find a conveniently located available power outlet . my ancient hp cannot last more than a measly 15 minutes without power… but on …
